L'amore per Dio senza l'amore per il prossimo sarebbe, anzi e', come la Fede senza le buone opere: una comoda scorciatoia umana, indegna di Dio e della sola creatura fatta da Lui a sua immagine e somiglianza. E l'amore per il prossimo senza amore per Dio sarebbe, anzi e', come le buone opere senza Fede: puro orgoglio, istinto intimamente perverso.
The love for God without love for the neighbor would be, and indeed is, like Faith without good works: a convenient human shortcut, unworthy of God and of the only creature made by him in his own image and likeness. And the love for neighbor without love for God would be, and indeed is, like the good works without Faith: pure pride, an intimately perverted instinct.
El amor para Dios sin el amor al prójimo sería, de hecho es, como la Fe sin las buenas obras: un conveniente atajo humano, indigno de Dios y de la única criatura hecha por El a su imagen y semejanza. Y el amor al prójimo sin amor para Dios sería, de hecho es, como las buenas obras sin Fe: puro orgullo, un instinto íntimamente perverso.
